I bought a set of Optimizers a little while back and finally had the weather today where I could install them. I have been at it for nearly an hour now and still haven't gotten the first sensor disconnected! Is there something i'm missing ? I watched the youtube video for the PC5 optimizer install and they made it seem like you just reach on under and pop the clip off and away you go ! At this point I think I'm just destroying the plastic clips that hold them on...any advice would be great.

Should I be trying to pop open the 3 clips ( side / bottom / side ) or is there another clip that holds it in place? I have read something about a clip on top ?

I've pulled them probably 15-20 times times and still have trouble. Once it took me a 1/2 hour after having done it maybe 10 times before that. Theres a tab on the top inside the housing is the best way i can explain it. I suggest a small flashlight and a small mirror so you can see whats going on better. I use a small bent rod to access the tab.

After I read your post I went back and looked at it and there it was !!

For anyone else looking to do this:

You will find this tab at the top of each wiring harness for the O2 sensors, you have to push down on this tab to release the harness from the mount while pulling the harness towards the front of the bike. Once the harness is free then you can separate the two piece harness connection using the 3 tabs ( side / bottom / side ).

Thanks Daz.

ya I wish someone had a pic like that when I did mine I was at it for about 2 hours before I got those suckers out. they were a serious pain in the, and better yet I never did get them unclipped from the bike just finally got the plugs out and slipped the Optimizers in, seems ok

Yeah, extremely stupid design. Not that the connectors themselves are, but if you're going to put them in a place that would test a contortionist's patience then use a connector thats a hell of a lot easier to unclip.

Hi guys I joined this forum late after you all had most stuff figured out. And I want to thank you. I probobly would have gave up trying to get those connectors down if I hadn't read this thread. Also I did it in the middle of an oil change. Seemed a little more roomy down there with out the filter in the way.
Thanks again
Sam.
